When I attended Quilt Con for the first time in 2024, I had just one regret: not buying a quilt kit. I hesitated over an Anna Maria quilt kit, and when I finally decided the one I want, I realized I’d gone way over budget already and left it behind. For two years, that quilt kit stayed on my mind. So, when I knew I’d be returning to Quilt Con this year, tracking down an Anna Maria quilt kit I truly loved, because I’m picky and wouldn’t settle for just any kit, became my top priority and my very first purchase!

I’m not typically a quilt kit maker. As a pattern designer, my favorite part is creating the quilt design and selecting the perfect fabrics to complement the pattern. However, sometimes a bit of mindless, enjoyable sewing is just what I need to prevent burnout. Even better if the project becomes a special keepsake, like a souvenir from Quilt Con!

Since before I was quilting, Anna Maria’s fabric designs have always held a special place in my heart. The prints she draws and the colors she uses is just perfection to me. Her fabric lines are auto buy for me. Sometimes it’s hard to commit to a pattern, so I have quite a bit of fat quarter bundles that just live on the shelf. I know, I know. I need to use the good stuff.

I did splurge and got a matching backing from the Allegory line. The dusty background, and the neon prints on the flowers is just perfection to me, so I couldn’t not use it for the backing! Of course, no quilt is complete without a quilt tag (and 2026 ones are still available in my store!)

I had a great time with the free motion quilting on this piece. I didn’t follow a specific plan—instead, I combined a variety of designs, experimenting with swirls, paisley shapes, and pebbles. It was all about playing and exploring different patterns.

I loved how quickly and effortlessly this quilt came together.

The instructions were incredibly clear, making the sewing process an absolute joy. It was finished just three days after Quilt Con in February! Quilting, binding, and documenting—well, that’s like laundry. Everything can be clean, but putting it away might take seven business days to complete.

I picked this Allegory Crossover kit up from Sewing Party, and they still have some available. (I am in no way affiliated with them, just sharing the knowledge of where you can get it!)

Sometimes it’s a real joy to simply sew a kit and let all the planning be done for you. This quilt was exactly that for me, and now I have a cherished keepsake from my time at Quilt Con 2026!
