When I have a lot of memory quilts to be working on, I like to have a special quilt just for me in progress. I think it helps with not feeling burnt out and keeps the creative spark going.

This was my background project quilt for quite some time now. When I saw this Tula Pink Pinkerville fabric line, with its Nessies, Unicorns, I knew this was going to be a treat myself fabric. And (this is where you should be proud of me) it didn’t just stay in a drawer….I actually cut it up and made a quilt to be used and loved!

I used Cluck Cluck Sew’s Shimmer pattern for this quilt. Sometimes the brain needs a project that it doesn’t need to thing much about, and her patterns are so well written that it just makes for a relaxing sewing time!

I wanted to stick with the Tula Pink and mythical theme so I used some of the stardust looking print on the back. In hindsight,I wished i used one of the color background prints instead of the white, but it is what it is. It’s pretty, I just don’t know how long it’ll stay that way!

For the quilting, I did a simple meander with some stars every so often. I love how the quilting came out.

This one promptly scored a place on my reading chair in the front room, where it will probably get to stay for a while! I love the colors and coziness! Now, what will my next background quilt projet be……
