Summertime Kickoff…and what I’ve been up to

There is just something so relaxing, happy and exciting yet so chaotic with the start of every new summer. The kids are out of school, and now that they’re older, the bedtimes have started to match the sunsets. I think this is the first year that we didn’t battle the “why am I going to bed with the sun up” questions. (This does break my heart a little!!!)

With the adjusting to our new summer schedules, comes a week or so of learning to adapt to our new routines. The first two weeks are always jam packed with activities and organization and then once mid June hits, we find our groove and things feel more settled.

So I’ve been quiet around here the last month. I’ve been busy being swim and surf mom. We kicked off vacation with a surf camp followed by a gajillion hour long multi day swim meet (but yay for big time drops!)

In between all the kids activities my husband and I squeezed in a little 15th anniversary celebration. Important swim practices meant we picked up a charcuterie to go from our favorite wine shop and enjoyed it in peace and quiet on the patio. Not a horrible way to celebrate if you ask me!

While of course always finding time to sneak in a few pages. I just finished The Summer of Songbirds, Kristy Woodson Harvey’s upcoming book and it was so summer perfect!!!

And as your reward for reading this far, I’ll share with you a little PATTERN ANNOUNCEMENT!! Here’s a. sneak peek of my new pattern that’s ALMOST finished and ready to be out in the world!!!! I’m so excited! It’s bright, and funky and something so different than what I usually make, yet still so me. It will be ready to go out into the world at the beginning of August.

So while the good ol’blog posts are fewer over these summer months, I’m still here and still plugging away on all kinds of wonderful things to share with you all.

Now, to go kick the kids off of video games and soak up some Vitamin D. Happy summer days!
